Doctorate in Education in Educational Psychology (EdD) Overview

The EdD in Educational Psychology at Chaminade University of Honolulu is a practitioner doctoral program for the working professional in the field of educational psychology.  This program offers an innovative and real-world curriculum that focuses on preparing individuals to meet the holistic needs of PK-12 students.  Emphasis is placed upon preparing individuals for transformational roles within the PK-12 school system and the community by addressing three domains: 1) Psychological Test Administration, 2) Mental Health Counseling, and 3) Scholar-Practitioner Researcher.

The EdD in Educational Psychology is a three-year online program that includes two residencies.  This program was designed to allow students to meet the academic requirements for the Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) Mental Health license and to meet the requirements to be a School Psychologist in the State of Hawaii.  The curriculum includes advanced counseling courses, training in test administration, and a culminating experience in the form of an action research dissertation.  Students will also be required to complete a 600 hour internship within a PK-12 school setting.  Documentation of the completion of a minimum of 600 hour practicum or internship from a clinical master’s program is an admission requirement for this program.
